Translator's note:
1. I paraphrased it a bit to make it sound better. Literally it’s “Hand that was born and abandoned; living a life where I can’t grasp anything (with it).” And by grasp you can assume it’s meant “attain.” But I left grasp because of the motif of counting with one’s fingers.
2. There’s some really nice wordplay here but it’s impossible to get properly across in English. 綺麗に咲いた means “blossomed beautifully” but it can also be “opened up cleanly” (and if written as 綺麗に裂いた, it means literally “cleanly cut open” and it’s pronounced the same). Obviously, this phrase is referring to wounds because it’s implied the protagonist is hurting someone (or perhaps himself). And then we have the line with the sun. So the sun made sure things have blossomed (like flowers would do). But it also means that metaphorical light is going out of the protagonist (because he’s lost it), and therefore that “light” that is going away from him made sure that he made the wounds in the first place. Do you see why this is hard ;~;
3. This should probably be “until this wound turns into a scar” because in Japanese there’s a word that means both trace and scar and Ruki probably just…picked the wrong one in English.
